Chief Executive Officer

John Chrismer

John joined Small Axe in August 2022. As CEO he is responsible for the daily operations, business development, sales, client support, and strategic planning to align with the Company’s vision. A 15-year industry veteran who brings a passion for success to grow, expand and support Small Axe. Prior to Small Axe, John served as Business Development Director of Global Channels at ePlus, Inc., NASDAQ ($1.6B Revenue) listed company.

John was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He currently resides with his family in Coronado, CA. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Washington College, Chestertown MD. His passion and life’s work over the past 20 years is developing and mentoring young men as a Lacrosse Coach at Coronado High School.

Chief Technical Officer

Alp Sezen

A highly reputable, 30+ year Executive with multiple disciplines on the global technology stage. Positions range from Global Sales Leadership and Business Development to Global Design and Strategy for Product Deployment and Support. Strong track record of start-up implementation and scale in segments ranging from VOIP to Long-range Communication solutions for the Railroad Industry. He is credited creating four embedded form factors EmITX, Pico-ITX, Nano-ITX and Femto-ITX.

His efforts and solutions have positively impacted a wide range of industries from; Military applications, Medical, Telco, parallel computing, Industrial, Retail, Oil& Gas, Enterprise IT, storage solutions and currently AI, 5G and distributed edge computing technology implementations.

Alp was born in Yverdon, Switzerland and grew up in Istanbul, Turkey (he speaks English, Turkish and French) graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Physics Degree and attended graduate school at San Diego State University in Physics.

Advisor/Strategy & Revenue

Chris McGhay

A highly recognized, seasoned Senior Strategy and Revenue professional specializing in cutting edge innovative technologies with a strong track record of implementation strategy and “alliance” tactics. Chris has a successful track record of designing and implementing pilot-to-production programs into large “enterprise” segments and establishing clear lanes to scale. He has a keen focus on developing critical path mantra and team motivation measures in both the technology sector and the capital markets sector.

Recently, Chris lead the Business Development team at Avnet, Inc with a focus on driving Xilinx architecture into enterprise organizations across multiple vertical markets. He was also tasked with creating new lines of revenue for Avnet Global through tactical partnerships with a focus on software and service-oriented offerings that provide additional value to Avnet’s current ecosystem of partners, suppliers, and their ever-growing global customer base of over 2 million.

Chris was born and raised in Maryland, he currently resides with his family in Arizona, and he holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Towson University.

Franklin A. Jackson

COO, Cybrella Inc

Franklin is a recognized industry Cyber Security authority and leader in digital transformation, with substantial experience in steering multiplatform enterprise security solutions. His background includes developing and managing Cyber Security as an enterprise-wide strategic issue in government, medical and financial sectors. He is expert in cloud and security technologies, providing governance and risk-based security. He has an entrepreneurial approach to developing fast-paced advisory services programs, under extreme budget and time constraints and holds a Department of Defense Active Secret Clearance.

Stephen T. “Steve” Sargeant

Commander (Ret) of the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Command, Current CEO of Marvin Test Solutions

Previously Steve served in the USAF for nearly 34 years before retiring as a Major General at the end of 2011. During his time in uniform he served in critical roles including Military Assistant to the Deputy Secretary and Secretary of Defense, Commandant of the USAF Weapons School, Commander of the 8th and 56th Fighter Wings, Deputy Executive Secretary to the National Security Council, Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategy, Plans, and Assessment for CJTF-7/MNF in Iraq, Deputy Chief of Staff for the UNC and US Forces in Korea, and culminated his career in the acquisition community as the Commander of the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Command until the F-35 was ready to begin maintenance and flying operations.
General Sargeant currently serves as the CEO of Marvin Test Solutions, and Vice President of The Marvin Group for Strategic Development where he passionately leads the MTS Team in meeting defense, aerospace, and semiconductor organizations’ requirements globally with innovative and highly-effective solutions.
Steve founded Sargeant Solutions, LLC, and serves as a Board Member for 3 aerospace and defense startups, Board Advisor to a dual-use focused fund, and Advisor to more than 6 aerospace and defense startups and has assisted all with strategic planning, investors, talent acquisition, and business development.
Beginning in the Cold War, General Sargeant flew the A-10 and F-16 fighter aircraft throughout his career after graduating from the USAF Academy where he majored in National Security. Later he obtained a Masters of Aeronautical Science and MBA in Aviation from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, served as the USAF Military Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and attended to 2 Harvard University Kennedy School multi-week/multinational Senior Leaders in Government and National Security courses. He is a member of BENS, CFR, NDIA, and US military Service organizations, e.g., AFA, NGAUS, etc. and a Trustee of the Institute of World Politics in Washington DC. Previously served as Chairman of the Board of the Bob Hope USO and the USO West Region serving the Total Force and their families.
